Under new coach Dwane Caey, the Raptors have been working hard to focus on the defensive side of the game, and it’s paying off so far. Hopefully between the new coaching and a few new players, they wont be immediately tagged as a team that plays no defence. I thought they played decent D against the Cavs, who may also have been expecting less of an effort (or succsess) on D as well. Once the Cavs rookies get in the groove, and they start to respect the Raps new system more, I think we’ll see some closer games later in the year.

I really like the fact that the two young rookies (both coming out in their freshman year) are friends off the court. It allows them to develop a great chemistry on the court, hopefully for years to come, and it will make a move to a new city easier and fun. I hope to see a lot of highlights from these two in coming years. And after seeing that Sport Science blurb, can we say Dunk Contest?

We have to wait to see what comes next. I think there’s a lot of trade talk and I don’t feel like anyone on the team at this point is off the bargaining block. For the right price anyone can be shipped at any moment. And I don’t see Jamison starting this season, he’s old, plays no defense, and has a history of being a 6th man.

Also, I have a hard time killing GMs for the trades they don’t make. We don’t really know what Ferry and Kerr discussed, just like we don’t know the offers they’re getting for their trade exception (which a lot fans seem pissed that they didn’t use) or what their option were for trading down.

If Thompson turns out better than Jonas V, a lot of this is moot IMO
