Cavaliers rookie forward Christian Eyenga sat out practice today at UCLA with his right foot in a walking boot as a precautionary measure after he twisted his ankle late in his first NBA start on Sunday at Phoenix.
But Eyenga assured anyone who asked, including coach Byron Scott, “I think I’ll be fine tomorrow.”
The Cavs, who will play the Lakers on Tuesday night at Staples Center, are listing Eyenga as questionable.
I like Eyenga a bunch and I really hope he doesn’t miss a lot of time. I know he’s raw and there’s a lot of work to do, but can anyone really say they’d prefer watching Anthony Parker, Joey Graham, Jamario Moon and company over guys like Eyenga, Manny Harris and Samardo Samuels?
At least with the young guys, we can watch for growth and improvement and change and whatnot. Moon and company are what they are. And with Eyenga starting and J.J. Hickson filling in at center for the injured Varejao, the Cavs have an über athletic starting five.
Sure, the were will be brain farts along the way, but at least there’s potential as well. With the season headed down the tubes, us Cavs fans have to find whatever silver lining we can.
